FAQ
All you need to know before signing up
Don’t worry about your level! Concerns that you’re ‘not good enough’ or ‘too advanced’ are almost always unnecessary.
Important: Minimum Skill Level
Our camps are not designed for first-time skiers. Participants should be able to ski independently and comfortably control their speed on blue runs.
How are the groups organized?
During every camp (including our Family Camps), participants are placed in small training groups according to their real skill level. This ensures that:
- Chances are, you’re definitely not too much of a beginner – as long as you meet the minimum requirement, our instructors will match you with the right group.
- You won’t be too advanced for our camps – our experienced coaches work with skiers of all levels, adapting the training to your personal goals and ambitions.
If you’re unsure about your skill level, contact us — we’ll help you choose the right option.
Most of our camps that aren’t designed for families (like the Family Camp) are for adults aged 18 and over.
Here’s why this requirement exists:
- Formal and liability reasons: Limiting participation to adults makes the legal and liability process much simpler for commercial trips.
- Group cohesion: These camps are tailored for adults — from the training program to the group atmosphere. Our goal is to ensure a cohesive and comfortable experience for everyone.
If you’re looking for a camp that includes youth programs, explore our Family Camps — we offer training for kids and teens under their parents’ supervision.
Travel to the camp destination is self-organized — participants can arrive by car, train, or plane.
"You’ll find detailed directions to each camp — including the venue address and suggested airports or train stations — in the trip description within the Camp Offers section.
Congratulations! Your place at the chosen camp is secured once the deposit is paid. Here’s what happens next:
- Reservation confirmation: You will receive an automatic confirmation email as soon as your deposit has been processed.
- Providing participant details: Your confirmation email includes a direct link to a short online form where you’ll enter each participant’s personal details (name, surname, and date of birth). This information is necessary to reserve accommodation and ski passes.
- Camp details: You will also be provided with all essential details, including:
- Details of the remaining balance — including the amount, payment due date, and method of payment.
- A link to the complete list of items to pack.
- Contact information and directions to the location.
- Contact before departure: A few days before the camp starts, you’ll receive an email from us with all the final details and instructions.
We always recommend using your own well-maintained skis — the ones you feel confident on. For training, Piste/Race skis with a turn radius of about 14–17 meters are ideal.
What happens if there’s an issue with my equipment?
If necessary, or if you’d like to try a different setup, our partner’s test equipment will be available on-site and can be used during training in a limited capacity. Our instructors will help you make the best use of it — but remember, your own well-fitted boots are absolutely essential!
Make sure to bring a full set of properly fitted equipment appropriate for your level. A helmet is compulsory for all participants, and especially important for kids!
Please note:
- Ensure your skis are freshly tuned – sharp edges are key to staying safe on the slopes.
- Backup gear: If you experience any equipment issues or want to test new models, our partner’s test skis will be available on-site in limited quantities.
Tatra Ski Academy doesn’t have its own ski rental service. We recommend using professional ski rental shops in the camp location — a great way to support local businesses while ensuring you have quality equipment.
Just let the rental staff know why you need the skis (for example, Performance Camp / technique improvement) and your skill level — they’ll help you select the perfect equipment for your training.
Key info about test gear:
Reminder: we’ll have a limited amount of test equipment from our partner available on-site. It’s not a rental service, but can be used in emergencies or for trying out new gear. For a full set of skis for the trip, please rent from a professional ski shop.
Below is a list of must-have items for a safe and comfortable experience on and off the slopes. You’ll receive a full, destination-specific packing list (including things like pool access or evening activities) in your confirmation email.
1. Insurance (mandatory)
- Travel / accident insurance: Ensure your insurance is valid and covers skiing and any accidents on the slopes.
2. Ski gear and attire (On-slope)
- Helmet (Compulsory for everyone)
- Goggles (We recommend bringing two lenses: one for sunny conditions and one for foggy/cloudy days)
- Skis and ski boots (Remember that test/backup equipment is available if you don’t have your own.)
- Back protector (Ochraniacz pleców) (Optional, but recommended)
- Base layer: Thermal base layer (top and bottom)
- Mid layer (Warstwa środkowa): Fleece/technical sweater or vest
- Outer layer (Warstwa zewnętrzna): Ski jacket (like a down or Gore-Tex jacket) and ski trousers
- Accessories: Gloves, thermal ski socks, Buff or balaclava.
3. Additional items for the slopes
- Small Backpack (10-20L) for water, snacks, and extra clothing.
- Thermos for a warm drink.
4. Personal Items (Off-Piste/Off the Slopes)
- Standard Personal Clothing.
- Toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, etc.).
- Swimwear/Swimsuit (if the resort has a wellness area/pool).
- Earplugs (great if you are concerned about snoring!)
For your own safety and in accordance with the regulations, all participants must have valid Travel and Personal Accident Insurance which covers on-slope accidents and skiing.
Key points you must check:
- Scope of Activity: Inform your insurer about the nature of the trip. If you are participating in a Performance Camp (intensive technical training), ensure the policy covers advanced on-piste skiing.
- Cost Coverage: Verify that the insurance covers the costs of rescue operations (e.g., helicopter rescue), medical treatment, any necessary surgery, as well as trip cancellation or lost luggage.
The responsibility for selecting the policy and tailoring it to the specific activities rests with the participant. We always recommend thoroughly familiarizing yourself with the insurance terms and conditions.
Absolutely! If the second person wishes to participate in the camp, please purchase an additional spot during the online booking process.
Booking a Spot and Providing Details:
During checkout, you will be asked to provide the personal details of each participant in the booking form (First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Skiing/Riding Level). This information is essential for booking accommodation, insurance, and purchasing personalized/named lift tickets (skipasses).
Traveling with a Non-Participating Companion:
If you wish to bring someone who will not be participating in the training (joining only as a companion), please contact Tatra Ski Academy by email or phone before making your reservation. We will help you book a suitable room and arrange the additional accommodation fee for this person.
Please note: the camps have an intensive training schedule. If your companion does not join the group, they may feel left out while you are busy on the slopes all day. We always encourage everyone to join the fun!
